So, who are we?

My name is Lindsey. I grew up in Circle Pines, MN. I went to college mostly at the U of MN and took way too long to graduate with a degree in English. I worked for quite a while as a bartender and server at Tracy's Saloon. Along the way, sometime in my 20's, I fell in love farming and Tony too.

I am usually the one behind the computer or in the garden, planning, seeding, weeding, planting, pruning, harvesting, packing...I also spend quite a bit of time with the livestock and with my kids :), try to fit a little yoga and reading in here and there, and go to mental health appointments (an ongoing project).

Tony grew up in Prior Lake, MN. He was home schooled by his mom. His parents have always had a bountiful garden on their hobby farm. Tony worked as a carpenter for many years at Fabcon, a concrete factory. Along the way, I think he fell in love with farming and me too.

Tony is the brute force behind the farm. That's not to say that he isn't a kind, caring, generous soul, but if there is a project to do he will get it done. He works full-time-ish as self-employed carpenter (Maas Carpentry). He does quite a variety of jobs...finish carpentry, furniture making, cabinet making, uphostery...the list goes on. On the farm he works whenever he can. His is the builder, fixer, tractorer, livestock wrangler, pasture manager, harvester, packer, salesman...the list goes on.

We started out by working as apprentices on a CSA farm. After that we started growing vegetables at Tony's parents' farm. Soon after we bought our farm we took the Farm Beginnings Course through the Land Stewardship Project. We also participated in the MOSES Farmer to Farmer Mentorship Program. We have learned a lot from field days, conferences, and webinars through LSP, MOSES, WFU, and SFA. But most of all we have learned a lot by just trying things out and learning from our many mistakes.

As time goes by, our sons Simon and Ronan are turning into great helpers around the farm. This summer Simon learned how to run the lawn mower and helped us on harvest and packing days. Ronan is an expert raspberry picker and does a great job checking for chicken eggs.

Please reach out if you have any questions about how we came to be farmers. We are excited to get to know you better too.
